After promising to go to sleep at 10pm at the latest last night, I ended up going to sleep at half 12 after spending 45 minutes on the phone to a friend. I was therefore sceptical as to whether I'd be able to wake up at all, let alone as early as 5am.
Surprisingly, I managed to wake up and get myself ready without too much hassle. I even remembered the tickets, my phone and a waterproof coat.
Cor blimey did that coat come in handy.
I knew the weather forecast had predicted rain but really.. this was just ridiculous. Waiting in the queue for the car park, it was raining heavily on and off, so I assumed that all the rain would have passed by the time the concert started.
We arrived, and after having our tickets violently ripped, watched Gossip. They were actually really very good. Me and my friends stood near the side of the stage. I tried to take a picture of Beth Ditto, but I just got a big pink blob.
Then JLS came on. My, they were rather good. Our view of the stage wasn't particularly great, but I recorded plenty of videos of them, and my friend had a camera that took good pictures of the big screen things. N-Dubz then came on. I don't like them at all, but my friend did. As a consequence of watching them, we missed Fightstar on the other stage >_>
Leaving Taio Cruz to do his thing, we toddled off to find some food, just as it started raining again. I really did come prepared, and whipped out my wellies.
We wandered around in the rain for a bit, had a gander at the Signing Tent (didn't bother getting anything signed, the queue was too long) and arrived back at the main stage to watch Calvin Harris. This time, we stood over the other side of the stage, right next to the Celebrity Box. We saw Gok Wan, the cast of Skins, some person from the Sugababes (I think, lol, maybe another girlband), some of the cast of Hollyoaks and Sophie Ellis Bextor. Even though they were celebrities, they all whipped out their phones and filmed us all screaming - Gok got the biggest scream, I think, and because of this, we totally missed Florence and the Machine; couldn't hear her over the screaming.
By this point, my phone had run out of battery (too many videos of JLS), but my friend took a good picture of Gok when he was looking right at our camera.
It then started raining again just before Metro Station - this time, really hard. My two friends had forgot waterproofs, so my dad bought them ponchos, which made them look like two massive condoms.
Quite a sight.
I didn't like Metro Station all that much.
It was strange, too, as I assumed all the screaming you see on telly is spontaneous - far from it. They tell you when to shout and scream with a "3, 2, 1, NOW!" cue. It wasn't all bad, though. There were various inflatable balls floating around. There was this huge red one, which soaked up water and became heavy. It hit me in the head and made a stain on my hood :L
Will Young then played, but my friend had an accident and had to be seen by a paramedic, so we missed from Will Young to Basement Jaxx. We stayed to watch Diversity and Daniel Merriweather, but the paramedics advised my friend to get some rest and stay in the warm, so we had to leave shortly after that.
All in all, such a great day. Sad it was shortened, but it couldn't be helped. I'll hopefully upload some pictures of the event!
